Desert Island Art

Desert Island Art Series

The results are in and pieces are ready and are for sale-
grab them while they are available!

At the end of February Susan Purney Marks offered a challenge where we were to pack a shoebox with items we would take to a Desert Island that we'd want to use to create art for the month of March.

I must say that this has by far been the most free I've felt since venturing out into the Art Quilt World. The limitation caused freedom in me to express myself and to use what I had.  The idea of "oh I need XYZ in order to do art" is now a laughable idea.

After packing my box with items I wanted to use for the challenge, I  started by cutting up  2 yards of fabric that would fit on my geli plate.   Acrylic paint was dabbed onto a geli plate where designs were manipulating into the paint with various tools to create forms on the geli plate before being transferred to fabric.  After prints were captured, the fabric was set aside to dry. The creative process flowed from there.  I used some basic elementary design principles for art that I'd learned.  Then I proceeded to cut, glue, sew and embellishments to create these 8 x 10 pieces.

If you're interested in purchasing any of these pieces at $40.00 each plus shipping, please contact me.

Even thought "Desert Island Art (DIA) Series" is completed with 23 pieces, and is my first series, I will be doing more work in this fashion.
