Facing Center

Facing Center

Challenge 8.2 completed.  I had never heard of a "Carolina Lily" prior to this challenge.  Now I know what they are and will be able to spot them in quilts in the future.

I chose to do a wholecloth piece using a traditional quilt pattern for this challenge.  Copies were made and placed on the quilt sandwich before quilting it along the lines.

Removing the paper after quilting was a bear!  At this point I wasn't sure how I was going to proceed but wanted to add color.

Using Tsukineko Ink I colored in many areas using this  little applicator as I began putting color down.

And, of course, stamps were applied

I was pretty happy when all the ink was in place and stamps done.

I decided to practice my FMQ by covering the piece in various motifs I love.

Another quilt completed in one week!  Thank you for the challenge.

Lady of Eight

Lady of Eight

"Looks like we nailed it mom Lady of Eight" said Romeo

This quilt is part of the quilt challenge from Project Quilting.   This is my first season joining the group and I think it will be such a great addition to my quilting.  It will push my skills and force me to be creative on the spot.   This season's first challenge was to create a quilt that represented the number 8 in some way.

By choosing 8 fabrics for the points from a paper pieced pattern I liked from Valori Wells theLady Liberty theme came to mind.

8 solids were chosen to surround the Lady and stamped with 8 of my favorite stamps

The lay out was completed and in the end changed up removing the blue

Finally under the very watchful eye of Romeo the final stitching was completed.
